GITCS Scale

The Global Interprofessional Therapeutic Communication Scale© (GITCS©) is a 28-item scale that was designed by a team of interprofessional experts for both formal and self-assessment of patient-provider communication. Lacking specifically evaluation tools for nontechnical skills, this scale has been developed to enhance health professional education by furthering the skills required in creating a comfortable and safe environment for patients. This scale can be used and implemented into any curriculum as a supplementary or primary tool to help students improve their communication skills.

Currently, we have two versions of the tool. Please scroll down for the new tool curated specifically for interprofessional use. For more information on how to use either tool, please check out our presentations or contact us with any additional inquiries.
