About Tina Revai
Tina Revai – RN, MN, IBCLC
My name is Tina Revai and I live in Port Alberni, part of the unceded and traditional territories of the Tseshaht and Hupacasath nations, on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, as an uninvited guest for the past 13 years. I came to breastfeeding through my work with families as a nurse (27 years), La Leche League (Canada) Leader (13 years), IBCLC (12 years). It has been my privilege to serve mothers, parents and families over this time. It was becoming a mother in 2003 that understanding of the pivotal role that breastfeeding played, not only in role transition as a parent, but in healing trauma, that I became alive to how healing a supported, nurtured breastfeeding relationship can be. I knew of Stephanie George and her work; her voice has been an important one in lactation and I pinched myself at the opportunity to collaborate with her on bringing this framework to life. We share a vision of this way of being/doing lactation helping, one that incorporates reflection and centers the parent, in order to unlock the true potential of breastfeeding – and it was a gift to work with her on this project, so I thank Suzanne for the opportunity to bring us together.
